Eduroam Wi-Fi Guide | University of Greater Manchester

Follow the steps below to connect your device to eduroam, the University’s secure Wi-Fi network.

eduroam (Education Roaming) is a global Wi-Fi service providing secure internet access for students and staff at participating institutions. As a University of Greater Manchester user, you can connect to eduroam on campus and at thousands of locations worldwide using your university login credentials.

To automatically configure eduroam, visit the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool webpage on your mobile device:

1️⃣ eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool or scan the QR code below.
2️⃣ Select 'Click here to download your eduroam installer'.
3️⃣ Select 'University of Greater Manchester' from the list of organisations.
4️⃣ Download the installer and follow the setup instructions.

1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar. 2. Select eduroam. 3. Enter your credentials 4. Click Connect.	1. Open the Settings app. 2. Tap Wi-Fi and select eduroam. 3. Troubleshooting

Can't find eduroam in Wi-Fi list
1. Make sure your device’s Wi-Fi is turned on.
2. Check that you are within range of a Wi-Fi access point.
3. - If necessary, restart your device and try again.
Incorrect credentials
1. Double-check your username and password. Your username should be in the format yourusername@bolton.ac.uk.
2. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it here.
Unable to connect after selecting eduroam
1. Ensure that your device is configured to use the correct settings for eduroam (PEAP, MSCHAPV2, and bolton.ac.uk trusted authority).
2. If prompted, accept the certificate to complete the connection.
Network stability issues
1. Try moving closer to the Wi-Fi access point.
2. If the issue persists, try reconnecting or restarting your device.
